& Why You Need It:

Anti virus software is something that every computer needs, but a lot of computers are out there unprotected.  Unless your computer isn’t connected to the Internet (and don’t transfer data from a computer that is connected to the Internet), you need an AntiVirus Software that is up-to-date and turned on for your computer to stay safe. 

Anti Virus Software is going to detect any Viruses, Worms, Trojans and other threats to your computer.  There are always new viruses that are being written and launched, and some of them are bad enough that they can cause you to lose all of the data on your computer.  To stop your computer from becoming infected and to clean up any viruses after it has already become infected, you are going to need a great anti-virus program.

Viruses get onto your computer primarily when you are surfing the Internet.  You can get them from both reputable and not so reputable sites, so you can’t protect yourself by promising only to download and view information on those sites that are reputable.  The dangerous part about having a virus is that you probably won’t know that you have a virus until it is too late and you lose data or have your personal information spread all over the Internet.

The main virus risk is that you will lose your data.  If you have an Internet business or a lot of your personal financial data on your computer, you would probably hate to lose it by having it deleted in a couple of seconds by a virus.  Getting this data back is going to be a lot more expensive than any anti virus software package ever cost and is going to be a major pain to do as well.  Another serious risk is that you are going to have your personal information hacked into.  Imagine how you would feel if strangers had access to everything that you typed, including emails, documents, photos and other personal information.  You can keep your date secure by protecting it with an antivirus program. 

There are no disadvantages to having an anti virus software program on your computer, so why wouldn’t you?  The answer to this question is that people often don’t think that they are at risk.  With the Internet becoming more and more popular and more and more people using it daily, your risk of getting a virus is increasing.  Plus, if you have an updated version of anti virus software on your computer, you are going to be covered if you do get a virus, because you are going to be able to get rid of it easily.  If you don’t have one already installed and get a virus that disables your Internet, it is going to be a pain to get everything updated and get rid of the virus.

Having an anti virus software on your computer is a smart thing to have.  If you don’t have the software, you are risking your data and setting yourself up for a huge pain if you ever have to wipe the hard drive to get rid of it.  Prevention is the key to saving yourself from a computer nightmare.
